New Harley-Davidson FXDR power-cruiser and CVO Touring bikes for 2019

It never rains but it pours. While everybody was still buzzing with the news regarding the bikes that Harley-Davidson intend to roll out over the next couple of years, the Motor Company decided to announce more new models, this time for 2019. This way, please.

FXDR 114
First stop is Harley-Davidson's new FXDR 114, a performance-oriented power-cruiser. Using the new Softail chassis, the FXDR 114 uses the 114 ci (1868 cc) Milwaukee Eight engine equipped with four-valve desmo heads, a high-flow forward-facing airbox with a performance-inspired air filter and a two-into-one sports exhaust. Power output is around the 90 HP mark, with 119 lb/ft of torque. Power is transmitted to the rear wheel via a six-speed 'box and belt drive. The engine sits in a Softail frame with an aluminium subframe to keep the weight down. Also in a bid to reduce unsprung weight, the characteristic steel Softail swinging-arm has been replaced with a sportsbike-style aluminium unit, which saves a claimed 4.62 kg. The weight-saving exercise continues with the bodywork, made out of composite materials, and aluminium cast wheels (19" front, 18" lenticular rear).

Front suspension duties are handled by a 43 mm single-cartridge USD front fork; the braking is entrusted to a pair of 300mm discs and two four-piston callipers. The massive 240-section rear boot is kept on the straight and narrow by an adjustable monoshock and a 292mm disc brake with a sliding twin-piston calliper.

With the FXDR 114, get your kicks... on a trackday?
It seems pretty clear that Harley-Davidson are pitching the FXDR 114 at people who are nostalgic of the V-Rod Muscle and Night Rod Special models - that oil cooler cowling is a definite nod in their direction - but who find the already muscular and performance-oriented Fat Bob too bulky.

CVO Touring
Alongside the FXDR 114, Harley-Davidson has introduced three new CVO touring bikes: the CVO Limited, the CVO Street Glide and last but not least, the CVO Road Glide.

The 2019 CVO lineup

CVO Limited - The CVO Limited is the flagship of the 2019 CVO range. Like all the other bikes in the range, it features the Milwaukee-Eight 117 ci (1917cc) V-twin engine, as well as the all-new Boom! Box GTS infotainment system.

CVO Limited

The 2019 CVO Limited's main features include new Blaze Red pinstriping on the rocker covers, new "Tomahawk" wheels (19" front, 18" rear) and the new Kahuna collection of accessories such as footpegs, brake pedal, silencer end-caps and footboards for rider and passenger alike). The 2019 CVO Limited is available in three paint finishes: Auburn Sunglo/Rich Bourbon/Black Hole, with Contrast Chrome Tomahawk wheels; Red Pepper/Wineberry/Magnetic Grey with Contrast Anodised Tomahawk wheels; and Magnetic Grey Fade with Contrast Anodised Tomahawk wheels.

CVO Street Glide - For 2019, the CVO Street Glide bagger features Blaze Red pinstripes on the rocker covers, Talon wheels and the Kahuna range of accessories, including footpegs, brake pedal, silencer end-caps, heated grips and rider/passenger footboards). The 2019 CVO Street Glide is available in three colour schemes: Charred Steel/Lightning Silver with Contrast Chrome Talon wheels, Wineberry/Black Forest with Contrast Anodised Talon wheels and Black Forest with Contrast Anodised Talon wheels.

CVO Road Glide - Instantly recognisable with its distinctive twin-headlight "sharknose" fairing, the Road Glide also gets the updated CVO treatment for 2019. This includes a Blaze red pinstripe on the rocker covers, a new "Fang" spoiler on the lower part of the fairing and the new Screamin' Eagle Heavy Breather air filter. It also features the exclusive new Knockout wheels. The 21" front wheel is the only 21-incher to be fitted as standard on a Harley-Davidson; the front suspension has been revised to ensure that this huge front hoop doesn't adversely affect handling. The rear wheel is an 18-inch.
